Flying With Golf Bags
If you are flying out for your golf trip you are going to want to protect your golf clubs with a bag. The two basic types of bag are hard and soft.
Hard bags obviously the best choice as they will provide the best protection for your golf clubs. The problem as you might expect is that these hard cases are quite a lot more expensive than their soft counterparts and can set you back anything around $200 or $300, sometimes more. This can be the best investment though if you own an expensive set of clubs or if you plan on plenty of golf trips in the future.
If you feel the cost is prohibitive and go for a soft bag simply leave them in your golf bag with the rain hood on and then place everything in the soft travel bag.
Make sure you understand the airlines requirements for taking golf clubs along. Ask about the airline company requirements and the Transportation Safety Administration regulations.
You may well be expected to pay extra if your golf clubs are classed as oversized luggage so check with the airline you are flying with. Most will have a golf club policy.
Don’t even think of trying to get your golf bag on the flight as hand luggage, it simply will not happen.
Arrive at check in early, security may want you to open up your bag and remove all the golf clubs so they can check in the pockets, bottom etc.
