Women Golfers Love to Travel
Instructional golf schools, that are friendly to women golfers are increasingly in demand. Women seeking golf instuctional holidays have many types from which to choose. There are vacations similar to baseball fantasy camps where you pay to play the most famous courses with some of the most famous golfers. In picking a golf school explore the other near by experiences, are there good restaurants, is there a spa, or are there other attractions you wish to enjoy. Are you looking to get away from the kids and the husband and spend some downtime with your girlfriends and play some golf on the side? Or, are you looking to drop your handicap in order to become club champion or are you looking to learn to play golf, so you are not a “golf widow”. Consider the type of vacation and how it meshes with your interests, physical abilities and skill set. What are your goals in planning this trip? Are you physically fit enough to play at altitude in the Rockies? Let’s look at a few different types of instructional golf vacations and/or schools.
Starting on the high end, much like sports fantasy camps that men enjoy is a trip to Scotland to play five of Scotland’s most awe inspiring courses, including the Old Course at St. Andrews. This trip includes seven nights accommodations, five rounds of golf, sightseeing opportunities and on course instruction by Rosie Jones, 13 time LPGA winner. This trip comes in just over $7000 and does not include airfare. Playing at St. Andrews with a LPGA pro is a daunting task, not for the faint hearted.
Golf vacations can combine learning with a trip to a new tourist destination. Once such example is an instructional school at Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The resort offers a three day “Fitness, Fitting and Finishing School” for women looking to refine their game. They offer participants two nine hole lessons, twelve hours of golf instruction including video analysis and three hours of golf fitness with a certified trainer. PGA tours winners do not do the instruction, but Blake Cathey who has appeared on the Golf Channel’s “The Turn” and “What’s in the Bag” programs conducts it. This program will set you back approximately $1500.
A marvelous place to seek out women only instructional golf camps are at ski resorts during the summer months. At Golf University located in Stratton, Vermont there are custom programs. The school conducts women’s only camp a couple times per summer where instructors focus on individual body type, athletic ability, and natural tendencies to provide the students with a game that is easily repeatable and enjoyable for years to come. The teaching professionals design a curriculum focusing on each person’s skills and goals: beginners will learn set-up, alignment, etiquette and course play.Learning to improve your faults will improve your over all skills. Learn to golf in a positive atmosphere with oppotunites to mix with other women golfers. The cost of the Stratton camp starts at $549 for 2 days.
Lastly, there are women only daily and hourly women only clinics conducted all over the country. For a total outdoor experience as well as golf instruction the Beaver Creek, CO is worth exploring. They offer a series of women only clinics throughout the summer time, designed for ladies who want to improve their short game and full swing. Sounds like a fabulous way to spend a summer or fall afternoon in Colorado. In the mountains you will get increased distance off the tee!
There are as many ways to have a golf holiday as there are women golfers. High end, middle range or low cost instructional golf is available for everyone. Savor your vacation and enjoy your golf.
