April 30th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

Getting all your stuff organized might not be the ticket can help you get a better golf swing, but it’s definitely been a give you a better attitude. Especially if you travel with your clubs, it’s important to know that your gear is safe and sound, and that you’ve got a place for everything you need.

Golf Travel Bags and Travel Covers

With lots of makes and features to choose from, you can find the right golf travel bag and cover for your needs. It doesn’t matter whether you’re just a basic golfer who wants to make sure that their golf clubs are secure or if you are one of those linkster golfers that  just needs room for a cooler in your bag, there are plenty of well made, totally awesome and convenient golf travel bags that you can select from.

Combos: The Easy Way

Combination golf travel bags/ carrier combos can give you the best of both worlds: because of their design may are particularly made to worry about the same as an  ordinary bag, and they make for easier travel and less bulk to packThey can be ordered with wheels on them which makes it easier for getting around the airport or simply over to your cart. They have  many different designs ranging from sleek metal alloys to padded designs that are reinforced with cloth. If you would like the ease of using a piece of lead its that switches easily from a travel bag to a highly functional golf bag, then the right choice for you will most definitely be the combo golf travel/carrier bag.

Golf Travel Bag with Cover: Familiarity Breeds Comfort

Some golfers like the way they have their bag set up though, and don’t see any reason why they should take everything out and repack it for a trip. In that situation, adding a durable bag cover or case to your equipment makes a lot of sense. These are designed so you can just put your travel bag inside of them, close all of, and take off out of town. They make designs that have wheels, as well as unique designs that are designed to save space and feature “hideaway” construction that will make it easier for you to store when you’re not using it.

Think about What You Need

If you travel infrequently, then you probably don’t think that makes a lot of sense to spend money on a high-end golf travel bag or a travel case. Take into consideration though how much money you have invested into your clubs, your shoes, and all your other gear (not to mention the high-priced lessons, know what I mean?), with this in mind you probably don’t want to skimp on the value of protection that you provide for your investment. Take your time to check out all your options, consider how many times you’re going to use the bag, and make your decision from there.

Insider Tips When Seeking Your Golf Equipment

golf gloves

In the world of golfing, one of the important aspects is to have good quality golf equipment. Having quality equipment can mean the difference between having a great day on the greens and not playing well at all. Most golf professionals will tell you that quality equipment is extremely important. However, if the person who is playing is totally new to the game, then the quality of their golf accessories and equipment might not be of much importance. This is simply because they do not possess the skills that they need as of yet. Once the skill is there, the equipment will become more important.

Golf pros know how important the proper golf equipment is to a golfer’s game. If you asked a golf pro to tell you what they believe to be the most important pieces of equipment in the world of golf, they would probably begin with the golf clubs. These can mean the difference in a mediocre game and one that can win championships. For a long time in the world of golf clubs, there were not a lot of changes made. However, this cannot be said of the last few years. Manufacturers of golfing equipment have done a lot of research in order to be able to make clubs that will enhance the game. Try taking a look at your local golf store or even a discount golf clubs shop. You will most likely find new innovations in the world of golf clubs that can help you improve your game.

Of course, besides the clubs, there are other elements that are important. This encompasses things such as golf shoes, golf gloves, golf apparel, balls, tees and golf training aids. All of these are necessary for the proper playing of the game. The best shoe to buy for golfing is one that fits properly. This may seem like an obvious idea, but many people wear shoes that pinch while golfing because they did not take the proper amount of time necessary to get the right fit of shoe. The golf balls are even more important than the shoes once you get good at golfing. The best kind of balls to get depend on the type of game you will be playing. Hard balls are great for distance; medium balls are good for both distance and durability. Almost all professional golfers use a soft golf ball for their games.

Those who are serious about their golf game will realize that they must have high quality golf equipment in order to be able to play the best game possible. If the equipment that is being used is not of adequate quality, then the individual’s game will most likely not be great. As you work on improving your game, try to check out different types of golfing equipment to help you improve.

Tips to on How to Improve Your Golf Swing

April 29th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

Whether you are an armature golfer or a seasoned one there are always tips to help your swing and take some strokes off your score. Improving one's golf swing is all about learning and perfecting the basics, and from there you build your way around it. The biggest problem is that no two people are the same, and ever body is different and reacts to certain motions completely different. So they key to perfect one's golf swing in their own unique way.

The fundamentals of a swing are as follows;

1. Grip is how you hold the club.
2. Posture is how you set yourself up to the ball. This is a key to a successful golf swing. The width of the stance, the knee being flexed, and straightening of the back is all aspects of posture. The angle the back maintains throughout the swing and the bending from the hip socket are also related to the posture
3. Pivoting, how you move your body from your head to your toes this excludes your hands and arms.
4. The hand and arm relationship, what the hands and arms do in the golf swing.
5. Alignment, how you pick and set up to your target.
6. The mental side, the ability to play without thinking about it. I would think that this is the most important aspect of the golf game. Why is it when we get so frustrated with our poor play that you just go up and hit a great shot without thinking about it? Most sports are 90% mental and the rest is skill. Tiger Woods is a perfect example of this principle.

The first tip would be keeping your head still and keeping your eyes fixated on the ball. Doing this will keep the club face the hitting zone. Most often enough when you miss a shot you take your eyes off the ball, by lifting your head a split second before you take your shot.

The next tip is to relax as you approach your shot and stay relaxed through your whole swing. Gripping your club to tight and having a rigid stance will play apart in bad play, you need to relax. When you relax, let the club do the work.

So getting back to basics and relaxing should produce a lower game score and better handicap, so you will enjoy your game more.

Choosing a Golf Travel Package

April 28th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

Golf Travel Package

You may be considering a golf travel package and hoping to reserve some time at one of the many great golf destinations in the U.S. or possibly an international location.  It is best to compare prices of the various packages online first.

Many of the golf resorts will also have meeting or conference rooms available for your group. Of course, no golf travel package is complete without tee times reserved at some of the top rated courses in the world.  A corporate package will include group discounts.  The more people the less it is per person.  You will also want to inquire about special discount offers for your golf travel package such as discount vouchers for greens fees at other local courses, car rentals and meals.

A golf vacation package can be found for under $1500 and some for as little as $200.  The cost is dependant on the number of nights, the number of meals included, the location, and excludes taxes and travel expenses, such as airline flights, to and from the destination.

Plan a golf travel package that is unique for your corporate group.  With all the locations to choose from this would be easy.  You name the location and I can guarantee there is a golf resort nearby.

Some destinations to consider for your golf travel package could be international places such as England, France, Italy, Greece, South America, Mexico and many more.  The United States boasts of many highly rated courses with beautiful resort accommodations.  These resorts are sometimes all inclusive and will include gourmet meals, use of the spa and gym, and of course greens fees and tee times.

Make a golf travel package reservation in England and enjoy and itinerary that could include arriving in Manchester and being met and greeted by your car and driver and delivered to Southport.  If you are not feeling too jet lagged you could play a round of golf.  Your second day you would play a round or two at the Royal Liverpool. On day three you would play at Formby and so on.

The cost would vary of course on the dates but could include: Six nights first class accommodations, car & driver or rental van, full English breakfast daily, lunches at all three Royals as well as guaranteed tee times & paid green fees, and all the services the local resort offers.

You have the option to plan your golf travel package around one of the golf championships such as the Masters Tournament at Augusta, or the U.S. Open and watching the pros in action.

You could save a little money by planning your golf travel package during the off season.  As is true with anything else, it is always important to plan ahead to insure your golf travel package will be the best planned and most enjoyable trip you have ever taken.

Choosing A Men’s Golf Club Set – What Are The Considerations To Make?

April 27th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

You will find that there are a lot of men’s golf club set available out there, each with different styles from different makers. The idea is to make all kinds of golfers happy with the golf club set that suits them perfectly well. You will find good variety in colors, styles and designs, which means you will find your perfect match easily. But when you are looking for a golf club set to suit your needs, there are certain things that you need to look out for.

Men’s Golf Club Set – Selecting the Style

A mens golf club set can be found in a wide variety of attractive styles. The style of golf club set that is chosen will have a great deal to do with what appeals to the golfer the most. If the person prefers to own items that are modern, then the best mens golf club set for that person will be of a modern style as well. A golf club set does not have to match anything else that the person owns so any attractive style may be purchased as long as it fits into the person’s budget for a new golf club set.

Men’s Golf Club Set – Determining the Price

A mens golf club set can be found in a wide range of prices, with each type of golf club set available in several different prices from different manufacturers. Some types of mens golf club set, such as a custom mens golf club set, will cost more than standard golf club sets because of the additional steps needed in the manufacturing process. It is important to determine how much you would be willing to spend for the mens golf club set before you go out to shop for the golf club set so that you are not spending more money than you intend and find yourself in a difficult financial situation. Choosing a price range to focus on before heading out to shop for the golf club set will also reduce the amount of time that you will spend looking for the golf club set because you can limit your focus to golf club sets that are within that price range.

Men’s Golf Club Set – Deciding the Size

The size of the mens golf club set that is chosen is also very important for obtaining the best golf club set for your home. Some sets come with more than a dozen different clubs while some others come in a much smaller amount and you can add additional pieces when shopping for golf clubs in the future. Purchasing a mens golf club set that has a large number of clubs included will be a waste of money for a beginner because they will have too many choices to make while trying to improve their game.

Brilliant golf gadgets

April 27th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

These are the top five golf gadgets that personally made me laugh and could improve your game, although more than likely not. These golfing gadgets are great for when there isnt time in the day for a round of golf or the weather is looking a bit dull as the majority of them can be used for a laugh in the home. Some of them could even help improve the normal electric golf trolleys.

5. The tee that loads the ball for you
Brilliant for when you are practicing driving at your local golf course as this holds around 30 balls and at the push f your club the ball will automatically get put onto one of the tees which is a great idea for saving time watching the ball fall off the tee every time you bend down to put it there.

4. The driver of all drivers
Although technically cheating this is a brilliant way to get out of a tough spot. If your ball is always seeming to head into the rough then why not cut the rough off altogether with this amazing gadget that is cleverly disguised as a driver. This is a really great gadget.

3. a golf club that keeps your drink in the club
This gadget is great as it is disguised as a club and will pour any liquid you put into it straight into any cup at the touch of a small button. This gadget is awsome for when you cant really afford all of the expensive drinks that they sell at the clubhouse.

2. A island for chipping onto for all those pool owners
Great idea if you have your own swimming pool as you can attempt to chip the ball onto the island. These actually stick to the little island as they are made of velcro which is great as you wont have to keep jumping in to get the balls if you are half decent at chipping. A great way to enjoy this gadget if you dont have a pool is to go down to the local public pool, wonder how long it takes before being kicked out!

1. A remote controlled golf ball- Warning not for competitive games
At the small push of a button the ball will head towards the hole as if by magic, putting shock into all your golfing buddies (until your found out that is). Although cheating this is a great during a recreational round as you can have a great laugh cheating all your friends.

Although your better off buying the plain golf gadgets like golf batteries these will help you if you want a bit of laugh whilst playing.

Humour for when you are playing a round of golf

April 26th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

I have recently been looking on the internet for a great golfing gift for my dad and I really have realised just how great some of the items on the internet can be. After previously getting him one of those fancy electric golf trolleys I decided to get him a smaller gift but something that would make him or I laugh. These products are my personal favourites that I have come across.

The exploding golf ball
This gift has got ot be personally put down on the tee by yourself so make sure you offer to caddy, it will be worth the boredom.  Carefully put down the exploding ball and when he hits the ball it explodes into a cloud of white powder. This is by far the one that is going to make me laugh the most.

The golf ball through the windshield
This also a great joke for when he is halfway through a round a golf. All you have to do is stick the sticker and half golfball to the front of the windshield to make it look as if a golf ball has been hit straight into the front of the car. Brilliant!

The Potty Putter
This is a product he currently already has but thought it really deserved to be put down on the list. Simply lay the mat down when your on the loo and you have you own little green, putter and golf balls to practice with. A great way to practice putting where you never thought you could.

The toilet roll for golfers.
Another toilet themed product this toilet roll is packed with golf quotes as well as cartoons to amuse any golf fan when their on the loo using their potty putter.

The wobbling golf ball.
This is one of the last ones I saw when I was looking through several websites. Give them this ball when they are practicing their putting as the ball never ever goes straight. The best thing about this product is watching the golfers face as they miss the ball time and time again.

So charge up those golf batteries and get these great items up on the course for a laugh at the golfers expense!

Are children still interested in golf?

April 25th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

The past few years has shown less and less younger people playing sports like golf. what is the reason on why this is all going on? It certainly isn’t down to kids not wanting to use the electric golf trolleys.
One of the major reasons and the reason that detered me from the sport is that one of the parents play the game and it is seen as a older generations game. It can also be said that if a youngster is going to play golf they are bound to be picked on if they are seen wearing some of the outfits golfers have to wear on some of the courses. The fact is that when I was at school the people who played golf were only friends with the other golf players which was either out of choice or bullying which is wrong.

I do not understand why people see golf as a old mans sport and not like all the other major sports like football and rugby. Golf in fact is classed as a high profile sport its just no one of the younger generation is that interested. In a way this is not true as I know a young boy who loves the game and enjoys playing it every Saturday morning when he is not at school. The major problem is that he wants to give up all of the golf playing for football and gardening, yes gardening. I just do not see how gardening could be better than playing golf? Is it that children find the game boring and a bit strange? I have never really gotten on with any sport so it is not just golf I do not like which means I am certainly not biased against the sport.

In my honest opinion I think kids would benefit from playing golf than they would most other sports. The great thing about golf is that it would actually help any child who liked the sport as unlike other sports the majority of people who play it don't swear or behave like a complete idiot. As well as this, other than the huge promotional money they bring in the only other money is if they actually win a tournament rather than getting paid stupidly high amounts of money every week.
So charge up those golf batteries kids and get playing!

Golf Balls - How They Have Evolved

April 25th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

golf club in

Golf Balls were not always made the same way that they are today, as they have gone through many changes throughout the years. During the earliest part of the 17th century, they were actually made of goose feathers and cowhide. The cowhide was used as the outer hull and the feathers were used as the stuffing. The process used in making these “featherie” balls was long and somewhat difficult. Because of this, they were also quite expensive.

The next innovation in golf balls came in 1848, when the “guttie” ball was invented by Dr. Robert Adams. It was made from the sap of the Sapodilla tree. When heated the sap could be shaped and molded. It was noticed accidentally that an irregular ball flew better than a true spherical ball; therefore, they were intentionally made with discrepancies to make sure the flight of the balls would be true. Every golf club in the country converted to these balls very quickly as they were much cheaper and easier to make than the previous ones.

In the last century, golf balls were made with multiple layers, consisting of a liquid center, a rubber thread wound tight over it and having a cover put on it to make our modern ball. The country club hills of today have slowly played a part in refining the design to what it is today. Nowadays, they are made as 2, 3 or 4 layered balls, and materials like surlyn or urethane are used to form the layers. The dimples on these balls make it possible for them to be hit farther than plain balls because of the lift and drag effect on them.

Today, to be considered regulation golf balls, the balls need to be completely spherical in shape. This is a requirement of the US Golf Association. They must also be 1.62 ounces or less in weight. There are other sizes of balls that are available; however, those balls are never used in regulation play. The two types of balls in existence are the recreational ball and the advanced balls. Balls that are used for recreational play are most often made with two layers, while the advanced balls are made with three layers. The advanced balls are more expensive and have more spinning power.

Mizuno MX-700 Driver Review

April 24th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning 0 Comment

The new Mizuno MX-700 driver has certainly taken a stand atop the new driver list this year.  The new Mizuno 460cc driver is a wide body geometry shaped driver that pushes the CG toward the back… way back.  And CG is not he only thing going for this driver.  The face incorporates a Ti-9 titanium alloy that is designed with a grain structure that really allows this driver to improve ball speed especially on off center hits.

Mizuno offers “Power Hull” body construction utilizes internal reinforcements for powerful sound and feel.  The MX-700 will replace the beloved MX-560.  Some may be disappointed of the replacement, most will enjoy the upgrade.

A quick snapshot of the Mizuno MX-700 Spec Sheet-

Face Height…………………: 52 mm
Face Area…………………..: 44.6 cm
Shaft Length…………….:  45.5?
Heel to Toe……………….: 113 mm
Front to Back……………: 120 mm
MOI……………………………:  High
Launch Angle……………:  High
Spin Rate……………………: Low

This driver exudes confidence at address, I just plain like the looks of this driver.  Mizuno has traditionally catered to the more accomplished player.  Until now that is - in the case of the Mizuno MX-700, they broke the mold by offering the recreational player a nice higher launch, low spin driver that will be sure to fare well among the masses looking for such traits.

Really the only negative was the head fitting not being interchangeable.  Therefore, since there is an extensive custom shaft selection including Fujikura, Grafalloy and Mitsubishi, it makes it difficult to test.

Overall Rating-

No doubt, the Mizuno MX-700 deserves your attention this year.  It earned a Silver rating from Golf Digest for drivers under $350.  “A “Hot Metal” face and geometric body design combine to create Mizuno’s most powerful and most forgiving driver ever,” Straight from Mizuno.  Yep, put this one on your short list this spring to take a good long look at.
