Starting to Play Golf

July 20th, 2009 Golf Trip Planning

Many people start playing golf for fun but without proper golf instruction or a good golf lesson they will not become very good at the game. But if you’re a beginner and you just want to get onto the course and have some fun without worrying too much about how well you play or whether you are doing everything correctly like your swing and the way that you are standing, and you just want to enjoy the outdoors and have a fun and relaxing time outdoors with some of your good friends, then there are some good pointers that you should know about when you are trying to learn the game for the first time before you go out onto the course.

Making a tee time is one of the most important things that you can do when trying to play golf for the first time, and it will be a lot better for the other people playing and you will have more fun too if you call the course ahead of time and ask them if they have any times when they will not be as busy so that you won’t hold people up, and another good idea would be to try to find a course that offers a short course or a par 3 or an executive course, so that you can play faster and it will be easier than trying to learn on a big course where there is a lot of room to go wrong when you play with drivers. It would also be a good idea to practice before you go onto the course but you should not need to practice putting too much, since it is a more controlled and easier motion for most people that they are familiar with. Just rent some clubs, making sure they are the right size. Go out with a friend who has golfed before and who has some experience so that they can help you by giving you some advice on how you play.

Whether you are trying to win a tournament or just learn the game, golf lessons are helpful to improve your game. Getting another’s opinion about your shots will get you great feedback on your swing. Constructive criticism is needed to maximize one’s game.
